What? Kmart is Racist!

You will not believe what happened to me at Kmart!


Last week my husband and I were at Kmart getting a little early Christmas shopping done. The Kmart near me is very low key, and they offer layaway.  So we thought lets go clear out all the Barbie, Monster High, and Littlest Pet Shop sections.


When we went in the store had like 10 people besides employees in it. It seemed like a few other parents had the same idea.


So we were just shopping and a young guy starts following us around. I didn't even notice at first I was in my shopping state of mind. Steve (my husband) said "Yo this dude is following us around" I was like " no he's not" and I laughed.


Then I moved to the Halloween costumes and there he was. So I moved to girls shoes and he was there too. Now we know for certain this guy is following us around. I walk to girl's clothes to see if he follows me!


He followed me! So Steve asks him " Did you want to come shopping with us?"
The guy's reply was so funny! He said " Dude if I was following you, You would Never know"
My husband called him "Slick" and I think a "Security Ninja"
We were laughing and kinda pissed.
I said to Steve " Let's just finish what we were doing and get out of here!"
Because my husband was ready to kick this guy's ass.


I get Steve in line and we are calming down now and really starting to laugh about it. Then I step over and look down and isle and see this creep standing there waving his hand at me like hahahaha!
I never even said a word to Steve! I never even told him what he did. I just said to him" Babe I'm going to talk to a manager about this guy"


I approach a woman in the toy isle. She was shoving lil kid's toy shopping carts back onto the shelves.Mumbling under her breathe " If people would watch their kid's then I wouldn't have to do this!" She had the walkie talkie thing that manager's wear on the back of her pants and by her frustration I could just tell she was the manager.


So I say "Hi! How are you? Are you a manager?"
She replies " Tonight I am."
I say "Okay great, I need your help. One of your security team is basically harassing me and my husband" I explained the whole situation to her the following, the arguing with my husband, and him going out of his way to taunt me.
The manager's reply was one of the most racist things, I have ever heard of. She says, "He wasn't following you he was following black people" I said "What?" She said" yeah he wasn't worried about you he was looking for black people" "black people just stole from this store earlier" I said "Wow!" and I started to laugh at her. I said"You assume because I'm white I'm a racist? and your little black people answer is okay with me?"
I walked back to Steve.
 Now I told him what she said.
 He was so mad, He walked over to her now.
He tells her what the guy did.
She said the same thing to Steve about black people stealing!  He said to her "So I am I supposed to think that the security guard wasn't following me because I'm puerto rican, a little bit darker then the rest of your customers. "
This racist woman turns around to look at Steve for the first time in their conversation, almost like she was sizing up his darkness and tattoos, and she says " No your not, I would never think that of you, that you were a Puerto Rican."
My eyes almost fell out of my head. I was so shocked. Cause to me that means they profile customers at this Kmart location!"
I called Corporate right in store from my cell! It was 8:30pm on a Saturday Night but I got to speak to someone. The woman I spoke to was so nice and could not believe what had happened.
She passed my report on to the NCR National Customer Response.
They were also outraged.


Then I received a phone call from the actual store it happened in. At first I thought they had the racist manager call me. So I didn't call back right away. I called corporate and they hooked me up with a different manager.
The woman was very nice and seemed concerned.
I don't know though, you know how that rolls with co workers.
You tell the customer whatever to smooth everything over, offer them a giftcard and it's done.
I think what this woman did was way beyond a poor showmanship of customer service.
Forget the over zealous security guard at this point, he was just an idiot with a two way, playing Kmart detective.
The manager however is a racist an a reflection on how customer's are received at Kmart!
She has NOT been fired she still works there! They both do!

Easy Homemade Teeth Whitener Update

A New at Home Teeth Whitening Stain Removal

Now you may have seen my video on YouTube about Homemade Teeth Whitener using Baking soda and peroxide! If not I have it posted below to check out! 

I was reading Allure magazine September 2011 issue and they had some at Home Tooth Whitening ideas! 

One of these tips I thought kinda went with my video. So I wanted to share it with you! 

First they said to dry your teeth! Apparently salvia can weaken the strength of your tooth whitener! 

Try using a clean washcloth to dry your teeth before using baking soda or peroxide to brush with! 

This was my favorite tip if you have stains on your teeth take a washcloth and dip it into peroxide and rub it on to the stain!

 It will be more effective then just brushing the stains with peroxide or baking soda!

 

*Now for stain removal I would say if the mixture is not going to be hitting your gums, then go ahead and mix some peroxide and baking soda into a paste like consistency and scrub those stains away! 

    

Be careful peroxide with bleach the color out of your washcloth so be sure your ok with that first! 

* If you experience any sensitivity from using whitening products brush with a toothpaste like Sensodyne when using whitening products!

Homemade Blackhead Clarifying Peel Off Mask

Say Goodbye to Blackheads!

You wanna make your blackheads disappear today?

It's so easy to do at Home! 

Do you have eggs and lemon juice?

Yes that's it Eggs and Lemon Juice!

You may be asking yourself
 Why Lemon Juice?
 or
 Why Egg Whites?

Lemon Juice is so powerful in eliminating oil and bacteria, clearing away blackheads and tightening pores.

Lemon Juice is a alpha hydroxy acid which is used in a lot of skin clearing products! 

Egg Whites really brighten and tighten the skin making it feel lifted, and your pores are smaller after this mask. 

Egg Whites also aid in clearing up old break outs! 

Now lets get started! 

You will first take an egg and separate the white or clear part of the egg and put it in a bowl. You can discard the rest of the egg and shell.

Then you want to add 1 tsp. of lemon juice.

I use 1 little packet of lemon juice which is about a teaspoon.

Start with a fresh clean face, this will make the EggWhite and Lemon Juice Mask stick better! 

Mix them together.

Your mixture will be thin.  

Apply it all over your face.

Avoid your eye area!

Once you have applied it all over your face, you will have to wait for it to dry.

It takes about 20 minutes sometimes a little longer.

The mask will be stiff and tight when it's completely dry.

When your mask is dry start peeling away your blackheads.

I always start around my nose or my forehead! 

Peel off as much as you can and then rinse your skin, you can use a washcloth to scrub away any stubborn parts.

After the rest of the mask as been rinsed away, wash your face again with your favorite cleanser.

I Love peel off face masks and most of them I have tried break me out except for this one!

It feels so good!

Oh my God! I am so fascinated by Violent Lip's Temporary Lip Tattoos!

Now there is a time and a place for everything but I don't know if I ever will have the opportunity to wear little cherries all over my lips or pink and purple cheetah lips! Maybe I can on YouTube! 

I have clients that would wear these for work or going out! 

I think these are so cool, even genius if they made them in just lip color shades or like lipstick shades then just add gloss and your good all day!

 It could change the way we use lipstick like for example wedding makeup without lip touchups.

For now I want to order a pack of these to try to see if they are easy to use, how long they last, and how well do they show up.

What you need to know about buying Makeup

I have worked for the MAC counter, Estee Lauder Counter and Clinque.
I am blogging truthfully about sales tactics and how easy it is for unsuspecting people to get run over by sneaky little tricks,
the Cosmetic Companies don't want you to know about!
I want you all to have control over what you purchase and really use the items you get.
Unfortunately being a sales person relies on the Power of Suggestion! 
Learn to read the signs of the cold world of sales.
     
 Have you ever walked in to the MAC store or any makeup counter for that matter and been completely sidetracked? *Yeah 
You were just going in to get your foundation or mascara and end up walking out with eyeshadow quads, lash primer, concealer, powder and you even ended up trying a whole different foundation, a new formula, because the sales person told you it's better then what you like!
If this hasn't happened to you, it can!


I just came across some old notes from a MAC class, I guess it was a selling update, because what I jotted down was all about making people buy more than they want or need! 
I am not talking about tactics that are agressive, I mean little subtle suggestions that would possibly lead to a bigger sale!  
I was so shocked when I read the hand out they gave us that day!


It reads:
Try to not ever let someone leave without buying more then one thing.
*Does that explain why every time you try to just go buy your lipgloss you get asked if you would like to see the matching lipstick, lip liner or perhaps if those don't work lip primer.


Always try to make a sale of at least $50, if you are not doing this you will fall behind on your daily goal.
*Again if you stop in the mall just to pick up your bronzer for example the sales person is not pleased until they have shown you the brush you should be using to apply your bronzer.


Read your customer figure out how much you can sell them by their personality, create concern and then address that concern.
*This one was really disturbing to me because this means that employees are not being trained to truly help people they are being taught to manipulate customers looking for help.
"Creating a concern" is a real mind game to play on someone, this is when your beauty advisor/sales person, knows they are about to lose you they will say something like do you want to try our new foundation it will help you with your dry skin! Bam you gott'em now the customer wants to know why they need this particular foundation! 


When you are asked to go get a product to try on a customer bring back 3x times the amount of product to demo on the them.  
So this is when you go to your favorite makeup counter and think I do want to try that new eyeshadow I saw in the magazine  and the sales person/beauty advisor came back to you with not only the eyeshadow you wanted to try but eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow primer and brushes! 


My advice comes from being on both sides of that makeup counter as a customer and as a beauty advisor/sales person.
1.) Have a list of what you want to buy. If you don't know exactly what product, try to stick to what you went to the makeup counter for, it's so easy to be sidetracked.
2.) Don't buy things you know you won't wear. If you know you like pale pink eyeshadow don't let someone tell you you should wear electric purple.
3.)Whenever a sales person is really pushing a product be leery.  They may have another incentive for pushing so hard. 
If you want to get the blush you have worn for years but the sales person/ beauty advisor is suggesting a strange blush that don't even match your skin, over and over you know this person probably doesn't care what it looks like on you or what you wanted, they just need to move that certain product! 

There was an older woman I worked with a Estee Lauder, she was the top sales person at the counter for like 100 years. She was cool, but you couldn't turn your back on her. Sweet old lady on the outside and barracuda on the inside. She could cause a customer mental anguish. She would say things like while your here for your mascara you need to do something about your acne, wrinkles,oily skin, dry patches, age spots. People would walk away and then come back I was always surprised. What she would do was plant a time bomb in their mind, meant to explode later, the customer is left thinking "Do I have wrinkles?" She was a master of manipulation. Sad to say she isn't the only sales person like that!

MONSTER HIGH'S Draculaura Makeup Look

I tried to keep this look simple since my inspiration for this look was my daughter's fascination with these dolls and her halloween costume is MONSTER HIGH'S Draculaura!

Doing this look was so much fun, I hope you have fun recreating it!

For my hair I used Hot Pink Hairspray from the Spirit Halloween Shop.

I just spaced out the chunks that I was going to spray pink. Make sure if you do the hairspray method you are in a well ventilated area. Also its messy so cover up counter tops or floors before spraying, I learned the hard way I had a PINK bathroom! 

It was simple for me because I have long black hair but you can also buy a can of Black Hairspray if your hair is lighter.

Once your hair is sprayed , wait about 10-15 mins before moving on with your hair.

Next part your hair for pigtails.

After you put your hair bands on your pigtails your finished.

*Children's wigs are available on line 

I made little earrings just like Draculaura's but I forgot to wear them when I was filming the tutorial.

Draculaura wears safety pins on her ears!

 I used 2 big safety pins and 

I put a silver studded earring through the hole on the safety pin to create the earrings.

 *I also hot glued them shut for safety so they wouldn't pop open and poke my face.

I did fake lashes for this look so that is a little bit harder for a child to do.

They actually sell lashes that are suitable for children.They usually have an adhesive strip on them already so its easy.

Just trim the lashes appropriately so they fit the child's eye!

These lashes are at the Halloween Shops and online.

Draculaura's Heart on her face is easy and should be done last!

I used a lipliner and topped it with a hot pink eyeshadow.

Vampire Fangs

I used glue in fangs they were fairly easy to do.

I just developed a lisp with them in! 
Allow about 10 minutes to do this step.

Makeup Steps

Face

* I used a sponge and put a pale pink concealer all over my face.

*I set the concealer with a colorless powder.

*I then dusted a pale shimmery powder all over my face to really get that pink skin tone.

For darker skin tones use a Neutral Foundation or concealer 1 or 2 shades lighter then you are.

Then use a pale pink powder or eyeshadow all over your face.

Eyes

*I primed my eyes with a MAC Paint Pot in Painterly

*I went back and put a purple glitter eyeliner as a second base all over my lower lid

*Then I packed the pink eyeshadow on my lower lid using a shader brush

*Then I used a fluffy eyeshadow brush to blend out the seem between the crease and the lower lid

* Next I took more of the same shade of pink eyeshadow and blended it into my crease

I was trying to follow the doll's eyeshadow but having a darker lid and light crease

Now for the highlight

* I used a cream glitter eyeshadow and mix in a little cosmetic loose glitter and applied it right under my brow bone all the way across.

* I allowed a few minutes for it to dry before blending the crease into the bottom seam of glitter

*Apply eyeliner behind the lash line and extend it out for a more made up look

*Apply mascara to your bottom lashes

*Line both waterlines with black eyeliner

Lips

* I lined my lips with a burgundy lipliner

* I applied a burgundy or dark red lipstick

*Then I topped it with a matching gloss

My Daughter has started a YouTube Channel

My daughter has been driving me crazy for the entire summer she has been asking me to start a YouTube channel for her!
I have said "No" nearly a thousand times. The asking became auditioning,then she started coming up with names for a channel and she reviewed a few of her dolls one night when we were playing to show me what she wanted to do in her videos! She is really passionate about doing this.
She wants to review toys!


I really started to think about it.There are so many things to worry about. Right? 
My husband and I have been so up and down with this!
I started to think about all the weird things that happened to me being on YouTube.


Then I realized that I have received so much LOVE from my YouTube Family that we just knew she would be okay!  So I let her make a video tonight, and I am so proud of her! She is really good, and I am not just saying that! 
Mia asked her Dad tonight, "Daddy do you think Mommy's friends will watch my video?" 


She is so super excited and I hope you guys check her out she would love that!

Homemade Makeup Remover & Face Wash

The makeup remover and face wash I have been using for the last few months is almost unbelievable!

They are simple natural products no animal testing, no harsh ingredients.  

It was always right under my nose and these products I've been using are probably right under your's too!

Okay enough of the run around, What is it already?

For my makeup remover I use Olive Oil.

Olive oil doesn't just remove your makeup it will break down long lasting and waterproof makeup, it will also soften your skin.

I put a small amount in a mini spray bottle.

 I spray it on a piece of  tissue or cotton ball.

Then watch your makeup melt off.

Now you maybe saying "there is no way I am putting olive oil on my face"

I completely understand that because I was the same way before I found out that Olive Oil's molecules are to large to be absorbed in to our pores! 

*Olive oil has added benefits in nourishing the skin

It contains lots of antioxidants like VitaminE and VitaminK

If you go back and watch my video Why do we get dark circles?, I mention that VitaminK is key in lessening the appearance of dark circles.

*It also has Squalene which is in a lot of moisturizers, besides also being present in our own bodies and in all plant and animal life.

After I remove my makeup with the olive oil my face feels slick and oily, but completely clear of makeup and soft.

Now it's time to wash my face! 

So I grab my box of Arm and Hammer Baking Soda!

Yep Baking Soda, it works so good. I was in shock after the first time I used it! 

The first time I used baking soda as a cleanser was because of one of my subscribers had told me about it! 
I looked over and saw that I was out of my Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean for Normal to Oily Skin.

I wanted to use that cleanser cause my skin felt filthy, I also had a bad breakout.
I glanced over and saw that the box of baking soda was sitting next to my cleanser.
So I tried it, I poured a bit of baking soda (bicarbonate soda) in my hand and wet it then I started washing and scrubbing.
It took a little extra rinsing off but when I was done my skin felt great! 
I really was in disbelief that my face felt better then when I wash with most of my Face Washes.
Using Baking Soda cleared up my breakout so quick, and my face wasn't just clean it was POLISHED!

*If you have oily skin you will love this! 

*If you have dry skin make sure you use the olive oil first this will soften flakey skin and make it lift with ease.

*If you have a breakout you should exfoliate with the baking soda or at least exfoliate the breakout area you will love how quickly it heals up the blemishes.

*If you hate looking at blackheads on your nose or chin you will love washing your face with baking soda it will completely clean them up! 

**WARNING if you are sensitive for any reason Do NOT wash your face with Baking Soda!!!
 Be careful with the baking soda just like any exfoliator remember  NOT to over scrub or use baking soda to wash your face everyday! once a week should be fine!

Makeup School Eye Shapes 101

What's your Eye Shape?


There is no PERFECT Eye Shapes just Beautiful Eyes!


This is an important lesson for a makeup lover as well as a makeup artist!
As a makeup lover when you watch eyeshadow tutorials you may see a look that you love but the guru your watching has a very different eye shape or eyelid type then you.
Knowing your eye shape and eyelid type will make it possible to do the looks and use the colors in your favorite eyeshadow tutorials.
Knowing this information will also help you pick the best colors of eyeshadow and eyeliner for you and teach you proper placement for them!

First thing we will cover is Eye Shapes

These shapes describe the appearance of your actual eyeballs or how your eyelids frame your eyeball

Keep in mind when looking through these eye shapes that you also have eye size, eye placement and eyelid characteristics too!


Almond - the shape of the eye is in an almond like shape this shape is very flirty and sassy
Elongated eyeliner on upper lash line will benefit this eye shape.   

Example: Almond Eye

Round - the shape of this eye is more round and open looking it is a very desirable eye shape as it can be a lot of fun to work on with makeup 
Extending your eyeliner past your lash line in an upswept or winged line will benefit this eye shape.

Example: Round Eye

Oval - the shape of this eye is sexy and sultry and looks beautiful played up with makeup
this shape is usually long and slender and can be confused with almond shape because there are similarities. Keeping your eyeliner very thin and only lining 3/4 of the your upper lash line with an elongated tail will benefit this eye shape.

Example: Oval Eye

Description of how the eye socket holds your eye


*Prominent Eyes - Your eye is placed further out of your eye socket
Have thick shaped eyebrows
Line both waterlines and lash lines with dark eyeliner
use medium to deep shades of eyeshadow

Example: Prominent Eyes

  
*Deep Set - your eye is placed deep in the eye socket.
You should highlight the brow bone and tear duct
Use a medium shade to create an upswept crease on the outer corner 
Keep the eyeliner in a very thin line and use white or a matching flesh tone eyeliner in your waterline

Example: Deep Set Eyes

  


These describe the distance between your tear duct or inner corner of your eye to the side of your nose


*Close set - for eyes that are closely set to the side of your nose
highlight your tear duct area this will open that area up making your eyes appear further away from the nose
Elongate your eyeliner on the outer corners
Only line your eyes about half way across ( from the center of the lash line out)

Example: Close Set Eyes

*Far set - for eyes that have a little distance between the side of your nose and  the inner corners of your eyes
You should line your eyes from the inner corner out your eyes are perfect for the inner cat eye liner
Don't elongate your eyeliner at the end 
Do not highlight your tear duct area
bring out your inner crease for a dramatic look

*Large eyes - you should use deep to medium shades of eyeshadow and line the top and bottom waterline with black, dark gray or blue, dark drown this will reduce the size of your eyes let your eyebrows be shaped but kept thicker

*Small eyes - you should do a very thin line of eyeliner behind the lash line white or skin tone eyeliner in the bottom waterline, curl your lashes too that will open your eyes up, expose your brow bone by shaping your eyebrows
